I agree. Sometimes the only way to get through certain moments is to realize that this moment will pass to something better.

Exactly - when I was an impatient youngster, my mom used to say to me "This too shall pass" - which annoyed me terribly then because that was when everything that happened to me was incredibly significant and definitely permanent - now I love the fact that both good and bad things fly by because it forces me to savor all of it.

Cathy, for some reason, your posting just above (never regular) reminded me of when my daughter was just a little girl. For a time, she pronounced "regular" as "wiggley-o" and to this day we sometimes refer to things as a wiggley-o this or that. Once we had a conversation in which she referred to me as her "wiggley-o mom" and we both laughed when I stood up, threw out my arms and started wiggling. We still enjoy that, even now, all these years later.

I'm thinking I'm more like boldly italicized Roman Gothic!

Maura...Nothing is better than memories made between you and your kids. I too, had and have special words that the kids used when they were learning to talk that we still use to this day. In fact, they've been passed down to both my son and daughters children. It is just a special language that only we share.
I was once asked by my daughter, Christi as she observed the full moon...what is that? I told her it was the big cookie in the sky. That has stuck. All the kids refer to the moon as the "big cookie".

for those traveling by plane this holiday....

    THAT AWKWARD MOMENT:

when you walk through metal detectors at the airport, and your abs of steel set them off.
