I kept some baby pink toes for a little while. They were fascinating. They had to go unfortunately as my wife and children refused to go down the basement and we really needed to get the laundry done!
I did raise CA kingsnakes and some other non-venomous typs for a few yrs. the family was okay with that.

    Glad you liked them, folks.

That would be "Fluffy" in the second pic. She is a Brachypelma smithii (aka Mexican Red Knee). She's actually still a juvenille with a diagonal legspan of about 4 inches (approx 10cm)

Ah, but there are so many other beautiful ones out there, Steve!

How unfortunate, Tony. Sounds like your wife taught your kids her phobia. (Phobias often have roots in learned behavior.) You should try out a baby A. veriscolor. Many arachnophobes have been converted by them. (It's hard to work up a "good" fear over a little bright blue spider.)

They are lovely...I've kept tarantulas in the past. That's a rose haired in the last photo? I had one when I was a teen...a word of advice- don't answer your phone while allowing it to crawl around on your bed if you are in nothing but boxers! HA! I will not ever forget that little mishap.

Im sorry but YUCK! Wheres the fly spray? Hold it off the Tarantulas though, they are just awesome!!!

Its the shiny ones and the ones with the long spindly legs (and white tails, cant forget those evil little b*****!) that freak me out!
