Maura, don't make it known in Australia you have a Volvo, I'll let you know why one day.
BD, nothing wrong with the 4 Runner, quite a few running around down here, good car.
Cathy, I like the Nitro as well but the budget didn't go that far. The Police have a few of them here on test ( nearly said trial hahaha )

Connie, 20 acres is a lot of dirt, I worked out that to build the orchd houses & fill them, the cost would allow me to retire in style & not have to worry where the next $$$ was coming from. Nice to dream tho.

Drove to the Drs today, lost my #1 patient statis because of it. He read me the riot act for driving. Its fine for him, he lives in town, without a car or driver, the best I can do is hitch a ride on a Kangaroos back or with an Emu. No public transport here. 25 kms is a bit too far to walk also.

Over here Roy the Nitro is cheaper than the Jeep. Mine is just a stipped down model. No bells and whistles.

"the best I can do is hitch a ride on a Kangaroos back or with an Emu"

    LMAO!!

Word has spread throughout the Halls Gap area that Roy has new wheels. People are locking their grandmothers away.

Oh dear... and I thought Volvos were such a noncontroversial car. Does it help that I myself drive a mint green '04 Ford Focus (the ultimate old-lady car)?

Maura, elderly Victorian tourists aka terrorists driving Volvos are feared throughout Australia. A sure method of identification is by the white lawn bowls hats with dark blue bands they wear while driving.

They are frequently seen during our winter months when they migrate north following the sun and drive on our roads at well under the speed limit in clusters so they cannot be overtaken individually. When not driving the family Volvo, they drive motor homes in clusters.

I hasten to add Roy is not included in the above as he likes to 'bush bash' with his car and create tracks where none existed. This explains why he had to get new wheels. I note he has bought a 4x4 which will make avoiding large trees easier.

It is coincidental that he is planning to shortly drive up to Queensland to enjoy our warm winter weather. I have warned my neighbours to keep their elderly women folk out of sight during his visit.

This definitely ok, plenty of those cars here, usually the ones being passed by everyone & told to get off the road, hahaha ( just kidding )

Hah! We have them here, too, but we call them Snowbirds. This year, we had an influx of them driving the little smart cars all over the area. Cute - and much easier to pass when they insist on going only half the posted speed limit!
