Well, the good news...I have applied to work at a local greenhouse, and...they called back to set up an interview...keeping my fingers crossed on this one!

Hey, hey, hey!! Congrats! Must plan the celebration party. Let's see - Killians, is that a beer? Guess we better invite Jin da Judge to mediate any heated discussions on the superiority of Paphs vs Phrags, and Hoa to throw out anyone who gets too rowdy, BD and LJA (you guys are invited to everything, even if you don't come...sniff, sniff), We need Piper for inventive discussion topics, perhaps Wolf can come and play now too! And of course, Tim! In fact, everyone is always welcome at The Outback Terrace!!

I shall begin planning a lecture series...
    Yeah, I like Killians!

Hey ATester, where in Cow Hampshire do you live? If you're within striking distance to Dartmouth College, I can get you into the Bio Dept's greenhouse there if you want to practice your drawing on their specimens. They have some lovely (and weird) plants - not just orchids - of all sorts.

    Let me know!

I am about three hours drive from Dartmouth (and Hanover), but I am more than willing to make a field-trip anytime. Actually, I have never been to their greehouse, but I LOVE the Hood gallery. To walk in first thing and see those stellas from Assyria (well, they were there the last time I went) was breath taking.

I'c currently working on a drawing of my Pachypodium...having a little difficulty getting down the structure, but it dawned on me yesterday how I should go about it.

    Hi ATester,

Wow - I have a good friend Marcia in Alton Bay that I visit all the time. She's also an orchid nut. In fact we're going to the preview of the NH Orchid Show this Fri night. Will you be going?

Marcia's also an artist. She works in watercolors and frequently incorporates iris and orchids into her work. I should introduce you guys. If you're up for a field trip some time, I can meet you both at Dartmouth and arrange for an afternoon in the greenhouse. You guys can draw to your hearts' content! (I'm sure Marcia would be more than game.)

    Default Interview

Soooooooooooo....I have a second interview with the greenhouse next week!! I'd still be working retail, but I think this will be far more enjoyable than what I am doing now! Will keep people posted if interested.
