    Default ANGRY BEES

I had a rental car for the weekend. I had to switch from the car the company had rented for the business trip in order to keep expenses clearly separated. So I left the first car and got into a second one, which was almost identical.

The second car seemed fine, everything worked before I took it out of the lot. (Always check everything on the rental cars you get before leaving their lot). I got back out on the highway and immediately went exactly the wrong way... but that's just me. I finally got onto I-40 headed west and began to get up to speed for the 100+ mile drive. The audio system (passenger side speakers) began to buzz, like the speaker was going bad. I turned the radio off and voila'! The buzzing continued. As I moved up through traffic the buzzing only got louder. I tried the usual, driving along pounding the dashboard on the passenger side with my fist. (When something doesn't work, smack it!) The buzzing would not stop. I thought that somehow I still had the audio system on. So I pulled off the next exit and turned knobs and pushed buttons. The buzzing had stopped. The audio system was definitely off.

I get back on the highway, and as soon as I get above about 40, here comes the buzzing again! It continued to get worse the faster I drove. (The speed limit is 70). So I had to listen to this noise all the way to Clarksville. It sounded like a swarm of angry bees.

I had to listen to it all the way back to the airport too. It was incredibly annoying. When I got back to the rental lot I insisted that the intendant take the car out of service. (3 hours of listening to that buzzing... If I'd had a gun I would have shot the @#^&@ speaker). The attendant starts the car, and of course, no noise. I explained it only happened when the car was at speed. He looked at me like - "Yeah, right lady"... but to his credit he took out a marker and wrote on the window "Out of service - customer says speaker buzzes even when radio off when car driven at highway speed" He probably wiped it off after I left, but I wasn't going to leave without trying to get the thing fixed...

But no swarms of angry bees living in the speakers?!!! What kind of way is that to end a story! Make up an ending.

    But we want an ending!

Or did Louis plant a hidden tape recorder of his piping in your car just to drive you crazy? It can sound like angry bees...

I want everyone to know that Diane is one of the greatest houseguest you could ever invite! She brought along two amazing bottles of special liquid from California that was HEAVEN. But the coolest thing was her warm and caring personality. I am by no means a writer, so it is hard to find the words to say how wonderful this lady is, but suffice it to say she is welcomed at our home anytime! We had the best weekend. My face hurts from smiling so much. It was so fun talking about all kinds of topics. WE never ran out of things to talk about. She has traveled so much and has so many fasinating stories. It was a great weekend.

.... The only weird thing was her swimming suit. She wore this yellow poka dot bikini that the catfish just loved! I thought it was a bit too dressy for the swimin' hole, but I guess that is what they wear in California... heheheheheh
Okay, j/K. I could not get her to go swimming, said she thought the fish might bite. heheheheheheh

Here are some other photos to enjoy:

Lou and Diane repotted a cattleya. Here you can see Lou heating the knife up to get it ready to chop the cattleya into pieces. Diane looked tickled about the whole thing, huh?

Sounds like you had a great time. It is so wonderful when you can meet face to face and it is like you have been friends forever. Plus we are all envious of the beautiful Catt that Di smuggled (OOPS!!!) I mean took home.

We had an absolutely terrific time--it's true. D, thanks so much for taking the time to come out here and visit! You're a great person, a terrific guest, and you are always welcome. Thanks, too, for turning us on to that Scion--incredible stuff, and what a neat way to spend a Saturday night, talking about everything.

Ah yes, my piping. Not the best habit in the world, but boy did it taste good with the Robert Young!

(Tim-o, it was *way* too hot for a smoking jacket, so a "smokey tee" had to do...)

It was part of my Arkansas makeover!!

And being with those two was like spending time with your 2 best friends/little brothers!. As for my 'many fascinating stories' - that's probably a nice way of saying I talked too much! But such fun!

I didn't take any photos of the celebration of an Arkansas state holiday that was occuring... "Bargains Galore on 64". At least 2/3 of the occupied homes on that road were having yard sales... and tons of people were shopping. It would have been a great chance to buy an old recliner or some used clothing...

OH! and I did finally see an armadillo on the way back to the airport... it was dead along the highway, but I could see the furry belly! I wasn't too sure I believed those two when they told me armadillos had fur - but they do!! (didn't photo the road kill...)

So- Guess who was the chef? The most wonderful pancakes you can imagine, and great grilled chicken too!
