An Orchid's Tale or Orchid Soap
Contest rules state I have to start an orchid related thread...
There once was an orchid named, Joey. He was a melancholy fellow, because he pined for company. There he sat...all alone on the windowsill. You can tell this isn't autobiographical! Wondering if he'd ever get to meet a girl... Joey, you're packing all the equipment you need, dude! And then, one day it happened!
Ok - someone else can continue the story.

She was tall, slim and gorgeous. Joey couldn't believe his luck! Long, lucious leaves reaching out toward the sun, and tender white fingers reaching out from her pot towards his... (perhaps she needed repotting...) Her scent - intoxicating! (delenatii influence???) The rich, red, shiny glory of her lips (obviously a multi-floral) was inviting and seductive. The sensuous, twisting tendrils of her tresses (must be some philippinenense involve) and the stunning glory of her dorsal made her irresistible...

Oh GAWD, it was so frustrating! He lived on the modest windowsill, the wrong side of the tracks, as it were. She was a sophisticated creature who led a pampered existence under the expensive light rack with others of her status. He could see--but not touch. He could hear the unkind jibes being whispered about him behind the well bred twisted petals. But the lady herself? She seemed not to notice the whispers of her peers. She held Joey in her gaze. Joey was only a NOID, but it was obvious the attraction was mutual.

But what of the dream he had endured the night before: the cat, the flying fur, the.....
Was it a portend of the furture or just some awful nightmare to haunt the far reaches of his life?

Fearing that the shroud of the nightmare will derail his love for the ruby lips across the tracks, he turns back to the window to lift his blossom to the sun. But, what's that? A shuffling noise behind him....

...no, not a shuffle...but a gutteral choke! Joey peered into the room, blinking in the sun's brightness. Oh my God, there was a cat! It hunched on the expensive Tibetan rug...gagging up a hairball. And with its delivery, Joey learned the shocking truth - his dream was true! But the predatious feline's victim wasn't him. It was the sweet, retiring African violet from the coffee table.
He felt guilty for not noticing her absence. But then an even more horrid thought occurred to him...caring nothing for his own safety, he wondered what mortal danger did this voracious omnivore represent to Ruby Lips?

"BAD KITTY! Bad, bad kitty!!"
Joey recognized the voice of his caretaker. She was an aging, but active little lady that usually had such kind things to say to each of the residents on the various tables and shelves around their home. The tone she used just now was not one she normally used though. It was not of anger or irritation as it was disappointment and was usually reserved for when Chester (the cat) did something that was less than nice.
"Oh, you bad kitty. Why did you eat my precious plant. You know what that means, don't you. Out with you now." she said as she reached down to heft the cat (he really did need to go on a diet as far as Joey was concerned) and remove him to the garage where he normally took his time-outs.
Chester, knowing what the tone and gesture meant, was off and running. A beeline in the direction of....

... Off Chester ran to a corner and sulked, plotting for the next opportune chance to devour another pretty thing living on the tables and shelves. He was still hungry for something more. Stretching out on his fat belly, Chester savored the last forbidden meal, and deep in his kinky omnivorous thought, "there is always the next time when the kind lady is too busy with the scotch bottle along with her friends" ...

Chester washed himself, thinking through his options. He was a cat - patience was his skill...
Yet he felt conflicted, and he was unused to that.
