Default Happy Birthday, Christian!

It's getting late on the west coast, and I'll be up for a very early flight home in the morning, but I did notice it was Christian's birthday today, and didn't want it to go unattended.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRISTIAN!!!

And give us an update on that cute Nowegian Forest Tiger you have!

Best wishes!
McTraveler

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors....but they all exist very nicely in the same box. ...Hmmm? .

Thank You all very, very much it's well in to the 29th back here, but it is still just as comforting to know that you guys thought of me! Again thank You!
Here's a little update, I know I haven't been very active lately.. You will soon find out why:

To start with the Norwegian forrest tiger - he's now allmost outgrown his big brother Louis, and is claiming top bunk on the kitty-climbing-tree - as you can see on the pic below. Eventhough he is growing he is still quite clumsy - a couple of days ago Christine and I got home late, and opend a window to get in some fresh air, we sat at the computer because Christine wanted to show me something, I don't remmber what since suddenly we heard a noize and Louis startet acting really really weird! We looked around and Balou was nowhere to be found - yes you guessed it - he went out the window! We live on the second floor (apparently the equivalent of 3 feet in cat hight..) so nothing happend to him, when I ran down the stairs he was just standing on his backlegs with his front paws on the window of the door - kinda asking me why I was letting him wait for so long..

And now me:
The last 6 months I've been working on my undergraduate thesis (is it also called Bachelor thesis in the US?), and it has been taking up all my time, I handed in on the 23rd and I've been realxing ever since No, not really I have an exam on the 1st of June and I have the exam based on my thesis on the 22nd so there's still that last hurdle.. Nevertheles I managed to build a terrarium in the process - How, I don't know . It is now housing a lot of new orchids and Tarzan our snake (who was bought because all our friends couldn't understand what I needed a glass box for orchids for.. :P) - just kidding

On the orchid part I just repotted 7 plants in a synthetic medium that (obviously) doesn't break down, and thereby makes future repotting very easy since I can move the entire clump of roots and medium into a larger pot and just fill in new medium around it. It is actually a combination of semi hyfdro and "normal" growing, since you keep the medium moist at all times, but still water by dipping or just pouring from the top.
Also, I have a seed pod maturing on a NoID phal and I've been cooking up some homemade potato medium in the kitchen. The flasks or jars are now placed in the windowsill until the weekend to see if they are infected before I sow. I'll post pics when it's all done

I better stop now before You guys fall asleep.

Again thank you for your thoughtfullness!

Christian

Yes, I had a wonderful birthday, Christine made me breakfast and had arraged a surprise fishing trip aftarwards (I love fishing). So after eating we went to the lake and my oh my she had also packed all the essentials for a BBQ - LOVELY! We started fishing and nothing happend for the first 3 hours so we started firing up, and preparing steaks etc. Just about the time it was all done the line of my rod started runnign like crazy, so I grabed it and started hauling (mind you at thish time the steaks, bread and potatos are just about to start burning) Christine grabs the camera and starts taking pictures while I'm yelling something about those soon to be pieces of charcoal! Anyway I got the fish safely on to dry land, and the BBQ was saved - though a bit, shall we say dark.. It was a rainbow trout of about 5 pounds (the lake was a put&take) and he is now resting comfortably in our freezer .. well maybe not that comfortable - more 'in peace' actually.
In the evening we went to my parents for a superb dinner, where my big brother and Christines parents also came.¨
The end

Christian
