True. As a Brit (Limey, Pomm etc.) I normally have a lot of time for Kew. (Lets face it we don't have much else left internationally). But why do they have to keep changing plant names? I'm an orchid newbie. I just started to learn the various names and what they meant, and they changed them. Every time I start learning the new nomenaclature they change it again. AAARGH.

TPBM thinks that the only good orchid is an American orchid and those Asians are just upstarts, and those European hardy orchids are actually disguised dandelions.

oooh.. i get to answer two...

    1. actually I'm listening to Kurt Schneider singing a rather sombre song "I Will Follow You Into The Dark"... no dancing here...

    2. Have to say that as a Paph enthusiast, I didn't realise there were other orchids growing anywhere else in the world apart from Asia... although, oh yes, there are those Phragmipottamus and Cyprisaurus from those other land masses... lol, if truth be told though, i have orchids from all over the world, so guess that's another no!

TPBM is going to the WOC at Singapore in November.

True. I'll be in Singapore for 2 weeks around that time and I'm sure will be making a few visits to he WOC, Hope to see some OT members there.

TPBM is wondering how to sneak in a few more orchids past the eagle eyes of the spouse.

False. My wife loves orchids and thinks its a far better use of my money rather than spending it on smokes (which I have quit)

TPBM Would like a macro lens to take spanking closeups of his/her orchids

False. We don't have ANZAC weekend here in the states, but I did spend some time with my six-year-old grandson who observed, "Grandma, plants are your toys, aren't they?" That was the best description I could think of!!

TPBM has one or more orchid in a covered terrarium setting.
