Default Life is like a box of chocolates...

Show your creativity by creating a metaphor.

Everyone has probably heard the quote: "Life is like a box of chocolate. You never quite know what you're going to get." Well, this thread is about making metaphors similar to this one. The goal is to take the two given objects, one that is specific and one that is very broad, and mold them into a creative metaphor.

For example--THE WORDS: Wisdom and night-light.

An Answer: Wisdom is like a night-light, they both help you find your way in the dark.

So, you create a metaphor based on the words the person above you posts. Be creative with your word choices and see how the members fare. Remember, you are the one feeding the words to the person who comes below you, so try to keep the words interesting, but neither too difficult nor too easy.

******************

I will start:

Your Words are: life and clear orchid-pots

Cheers,
BD

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors....but they all exist very nicely in the same box. ...Hmmm? .

Life is like a clear orchid pot. It's easy to see what's right in front of you, but you have to really dig in to see what's inside.

Next words: Dreams and Cattleyas.

Growing Cattleyas is like dreams, some turn out great, some are forgettable, and the others are NIGHTMARES.

Next words: Mealy-bugs and drinking

But did you know where that quote came from? I certainly only knew it from the movie Forrest Gump. Until I ran into it in a book published in 1980-something, so before Forest Gump!

In a book by the Japanese author Haruki Murakami called "The wind-up bird chronicles"....go figure!

A chimney is like a one-lane highway. When it's warm, traffic flows smoothly; when it's cold, some idiot does a U-turn and ends up facing the wrong way down the road!

Next up: Wind (as in weather, not as in winding a watch) & Money

Flying is like creating the color purple. You mix a bit of the red hot engine with the bright blue sky and you are on your way to creating something beautiful.

Cheers,
BD

NEXT: sunlight... music
