    Wink I'm not MIA!

    Hi all

Just thought I would announce my return to the forum, although I imagine most of you regulars are probably wishing I had stayed away!

I have been in Texas for the past couple of weeks, although due to Big Project Coming To An End at work I didn't really get around to logging in to the forum before I went away either.

I had a fantastic holiday, but having landed at 7am this morning I am feeling a number of things:

    a) Dirty - still haven't got into the shower yet - please could someone tell me why logging into Orchidtalk seemed more important?

    b) in need of putting some washing on - see above but in relation to clothes

    c) really very tired - I am not a big fan of flying at the best of times, and I can never get comfortable enough to sleep on a plane for any length of time especially not when plane leaves at 4pm and they decide to turn the lights out within 2 hours of take off when you are wide awake because we are flying into the night (that sounds like it should be a song title)

    d) very amused - for those country fans of you out there, I have got Brad Paisley's Check you for ticks song stuck in my head and it won't go away, but it does keep making me laugh

    e) depressed - really wishing England was not so expensive having just got used to US prices for food, petrol and clothes

    f) covered in fur - my cats haven't realised that they are meant to be punishing me for going away, and right now they are trying to make up for lost petting timep[544444444444444444444444444444444447uyyyyyyyyyyyyy yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyvcv 7 7/cv m, ?@?

    ################

Sorry the above was Bracken's contribution to the post - count yourself fortunate, you are not having to type in her dribble!

    lastly...

    g) really pleased to see all my lilies and fuchsias fulfilling their promise to be in bloom when I got back!

Anyway, I just thought I would say hello to you all, as like Fren, the number of posts I have to catch up on is overwhelming and I wanted to let you know that I have missed your company!

    Take care of you all

    Kerry

Default Nice to see you again!

Gee, if you came to Texas, I think it's my turn to come to England...

On second thought, I'd probably just stalk Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley...

Glad you enjoyed the trip, and I know all about cats welcoming you home - my cat becomes "Velcro Cat" for the first couple of days after my return.

I didn't know they were your type!

Onto other things, took your advice and visited the Catfish Parlour - I now know what Hush Puppies look and taste like - and quite liked them too!

I'd have loved to say hello in person, but we weren't going anywhere near Fort Worth as we looped from Houston down to Corpus Christie and Padre Island, then onto San Antonio then Austin and then back to Houston to enjoy the rush hour traffic round the 8 Beltway. Definitely come to England, even with all the rain that we've been having here - I think that it was still wetter where I was in Texas over the past couple of weeks.

Isn't it always the same though? even with last year's heat wave for 3 months I spent half my time cursing the heat as it made commuting so disgusting on the tube!

Don't worry about me missing the rain, I saw plenty whilst driving on the wrong side of the road: being in the middle of the thunder storm from hell whilst trying to cope with being on the wrong side of the car on my first day of driving was possibly not one of my best moments!

You haven't been affected by flooding have you Judi? I saw in the paper that parts of Yorkshire were in bad shape, but I was bleary eyed and trying to stand up and look over a man's shoulder at the time to see what was in his paper so didn't really see much detail.

I have a couple of photos that I will try to post tomorrow, just to prove I did actually leave the country and make it to the Lone Star state!

    Hi John

I have seen a couple of posts from you today, but I have given up on the idea at the moment of replying to all the threads I would normally stick my nose into! I liked the pictures showing your window view though. I imagine that if you get as addicted to this forum as I, then we will have plenty to say to each other in the future

LOL, don't worry, Kerry! You're an MIA rookie! I'm seriously MIA!

It seems however long you're away, the forum only holds about 132-138 "new threads" and jettisons the oldest. So it doesn't climb into 9 digits. Still, it's hard to fight back.

I get about 30 secs a day now to check posts, and I don't even know where to begin. I figure while plants are dying from neglect my orchid time should be watering and not posting.

Still, glad to hear your trip was a good one...and hi all!
