Default Peanut is SOOOOO not going to be a happy camper

My apt complex only allows cats & dogs. Generally not a huge prob as they usually have no reason to enter my apt. Few weeks ago, everyone one got one of those generic letters reminding residents that they are ONLY allowed to have a cat or dog and even then must be paying the extra $50 per month for the privilege of having same. Friday received another generic letter saying maintainence would be coming in this next week for a "routine inspection" which will include "checking walls & ceilings". My interp of this is that they want an excuse to check all apts room by room -- thereby catching malcontents like myself who have "unauthorized" pets. So Peanut and possible several of my other critters will have to 'vacation' this week at a friends' house.

Peanut doesn't generally like major environment changes.

That is terrible. A dog or a cat does way more damage than peanut could ever do to an apartment. Well, good luck!

OOOOOHH - not good! Maybe if you explain it gently to her she will not pout about the 'vacation' too much. Nasty old apt checkers. Good luck!

I hate when they used to do that.
All hail to the Peanut; may his travels be gentle and kind.

Poor Peanut! Tell her it's vacation or find a new place to live permanently. I'm really shocked that they wouldn't allow a cute lizard like her.... What about fish? Are fish banned? And frogs? I could understand spiders and scorpions (because if they got loose, they might cause trouble)....

And I never understood the 'pet rent' policy. They take a huge non-refundable deposit, which would cover carpet damage and such anyway... but my cats don't work for a living, so why should they pay rent?

    Cheeky sods!

My friend has an African land snail in a fish tank, and she has to hide it in the wardrobe every time the landlord comes round to the flat. How much damage could a snail in a fish tank do? ditto to a gecko! Doesn't make sense, does it!

Are Peanut and her siblings' habitats too large to disguise as a piece of furniture, or maybe an art installation?

Good suggestion, Kerry! Peanut is (as) art! Pavel, see what Peanut thinks. We all know she is beautiful - she could woo the inspectors if anyone could.

Peanut PM'ed me in her concern. Please reassure her, Pavel, that the troglodytes will pass through and then all will be well.

She needs to accept the temporary shift in abodes as the cost of freedom. Albeit illegal freedom. There's always a cost.

Just tell the management they aren't pets, they are pest control...
