    Default Phrag Autumn Fire 3N

Phrag Autumn Fire 3N is a triploid with the parentage Eric Young ‘Rocket Fire’ 4N x Barbara LeAnn. I bought this at a society meeting yesterday.

Eric Young 'Rocket Fire' 4N progeny tend to have teeth on the petals edges (a flaw with polypoid phrags), however this one doesn't have very noticable teeth so I bought it. I'm very happy with the bloom's size too. Depending on the light it can be pink to red coral tones.

That is great, Fren. I love the great variety of orchids I am able to get through my orchid society. Nice selection. This one is a great grower that you will love.

    Cheers,
    BD

    Fren,

This is an elegant color. Every time you post some of your Phrag photos, it makes me want to go out and acquire some!

    Cheers,
    Rob

    Thanks

I sure am falling in love with phrags. They seem to do very well for me I'm glad (actually better than paphs), though they do seem to be more difficult to aquire. I have yet to bloom a caudatum type or one of its crosses, maybe next year?

Rob I do hope you can get a phrag, they are neat plants.

    Here's this year's bloom:

I'm going to enter it into this year's OSA show if the flower does not drop, as well as a few other plants to help make the society display bigger. Its not likely AOS awardable due to the teethy edging to the petals, but I still like this plant. It might get a society ribbon though. The blooms are large for a besseae cross because it is 3N
