and I agree about the initial investment on an adult Paph for your first, preferably one in flower... the maudiae-types like the one posted above are also fairly forgiving.

Wink Yay! I found more room for my paphs.

It's chronic, BD. All of you were absolutely right. So, here goes:

Three more made their way into my collection, and one for my wife. Good thing she's on my side .
A 'Gold Dollar' was sitting on the growers shelf for a couple of my visits there, and decided to take it home.
Although I had a maudiae-album, it was diminutive, and I recall reading somewhere that a paph in bloom too soon does not bode well for its health in the future, so a second one was to be had. Good foliage this time: I am happy.
For my wife, I got a (delenatii x vietnamense) x delenatii. Although I am not attracted to the brachipetalum or parvisepalum alliance per se, I do think its a very feminine flower which my wife would like, next to her phals.
The last one, however, was a mystery to the grower. He got it as-is from another grower about to quit the business and all of the labels were missing.
It's quite large with thick, rigid leaves which reminded me of philippinense, just larger and thicker with some dents in them, suggestive of respectable age. It came in a red stone pot with four slits in the sides of it. Its got two growths, with a stalk in one of them. The stalk has one bud, and one large budding growth which look to me like one or two more buds are in an advanced stage of development. The sepalums covering them are striped! It looks like a simultaneous bloomer! So, I figured it could, mind you, could be a Rothschildianum or one of its sisters in the corypetalum alliance. I shiver with antici......pation. A few more weeks and all should be clear.

Meanwhile... here are two pics. Enjoy!

Nice new haul! Won't be long now til that Multifloral opens up. It'll be fun guessing which one it is... and those leaves are so nice and wide!

    and now... waiting.. waiting... waiting...
