    Default Paph. Molly McBride

This is a really nice cross from the thaumaturgy of Tom Larkin. Several of you had expressed an interest in the complex "bulldog" type Paphs, and this is an example of some of the new directions the bulldogs are taking. Shown here is a seedling I bought from Tom last year, which just opened on its first bloom. If you're interested in getting one of these, check out the Paph page at Whippoorwill Orchids. The parentage here is pretty impressive: Jack Tonkin ‘Val's Choice', AM/AOS x St. Ouens Bay ‘ Cerritos ', AM/AOS, and I'm really pleased with the form and substance of this bloom, especially considering that the first blooms of many Paphs can very often come out looking seriously deformed! (No comments from the peanut gallery, Prem--I know you hate bulldogs!)

    Enjoy!

    Mmmmm, salad! J/K!

Seriously, I don't really go for these types, but the photo is very nice and I like the pouch. Has that very slipperlike cleft in it, which always, somehow reminds me of cleavage. I think it gives slippers nice proportion, makes the pouch look a little less chunky/dominant as it sometimes can. My moquettianum is similar.

Your photo is very nice also, Louis!

Thanks, H! The cleft in the pouch definitely adds a nice touch of grace to the flower, I think. The plant is still just a baby, but I'm betting that once it's on its 3rd or so blooming and the flower gets more substantial in size, it'll be pretty darned stunning.

that's a very nice green color! well-balanced now, and maybe even better shape on subsequent bloomings...
