I'm surprised there's no malipoense in this--if I had to guess, that's what I'd have said. Mind you, I'm not at all familiar with emersonii so that might explain the superficial resemblance. Anyhow, it's very attractively marked no matter what its ancestry.

    Cheers,
    Rob

Good catch Rob. It is malipoense x emersonii. I erred when I listed it.

A lot of these have been made with hangianum in place of emersonii. I think the reason is it throws a larger flower. I'm not sure if this has hangianum or emersonii as a parent.

I plan to take it to judging tonight. Then I'm going to take it to "The Maury Show" for DNA testing.

I've only seen hangianum in photos (although we can import them legally in Canada, as long as they're not wild collected and there is documentation in place to prove it), but I think there is some resemblance in your plant's flower to the photos I've seen of hangianum.

LOL I can just hear emersonii saying "I knew you'd been playing around!!!" Joking aside, I would certainly be interested in hearing what you get told by the judges or anyone else with familiarity with this group. I think it could be a great learning experience for all of us.

    Cheers,

    Rob

Nice one. I like how that dorsal looks out of place on this one due to it's colour and texture.
