    Day 6

    There hasn't been much change over the last day, so I expect this to be the final product. It looks like a completely different plant! The petals have curled way around and the upper petal margins are highly rippled now.

    It's been fun watching it open!

    I have one of the same it is in bloom with three flowers I have it entered in the CT. Show which is going on this weekend . Judging was today but i haven't heard anything yet. I'm attending on Sunday probably when I will find out if I've got a ribbon Flowers seem to last awhile on these. Ray

    Very nice! I do love this species. I was looking at my pic. I wish I had a close up but it looks identical. The flower size on mine is larger than many others I have seen. I would not know abou the difference in "Hairyness" as I never thought they varied that much.

    So the var esquirolei is to do with flower size and hairyness?

    Yes, Mike, the differences for the var. esquirolei as per Phillip Cribb are flower size and testosterone levels. Apparently the var. is much more common in trade now than the base plant.
