Default Paph In-Charm Handel (hangianum x delenatii)

    Hi all,

This has been in bloom for about 3 weeks now, but I'm a trifle slow in posting! For the newer members on here, I'm a fairly long-time member of Orchid Talk, but don't get on much in the summer, which is my too busy season! (I'm a gardener for a landscape firm.) At any rate, I picked up this plant at my OS show in late March. The spike was probably initiated by the time I got it, but I was pleasantly surprised to discover it a few weeks after bringing it home.

Here it is in my display area.

These two photos show the whole plant better than the first photo. Note the size of the flower in relation to the whole plant.

Obviously the flower isn't symmetrical and it won't win me any awards, but I'm happy with it. I think the flower color is a really nice feature, showing the influence of both parents. I have quite a few delenatii crosses (I'm a huge fan of its offspring!), but have never had anything with hangianum in its ancestry blooming before. (Or even not in bloom--I'm fairly sure it's not an ancestor of any of my paphs.)

    Cheers,

    Rob
