    Matt, is that your first blooming of it? I was wondering if the outward folding on the dorsal carried over from bloom to bloom, or if that was just a one-time deal on this particular growth.

    I didn't realise this was one of those hybrids with a parentage that goes on and on... however, it seems there's pretty much only 3 species involved, ie callosum, lawrenceanum, mastersianum... the first two sometimes have cultivars that have those reflexed dorsals... guess if it's constant it's in the genes...

    don't know why i posted the above (must be the coffee), but anyways...

    I think it's interesting how the width of callosum's white halo expressed itself a lot more on the Ruby Sands cross where it was further back as a parent than it does here. Just goes to show you can never be sure what's going to happen with a cross until the progeny actually bloom!

    very callosum dominant with respect to the dorsal pinch and the petal stance. nice coloratum!
