    Default Paph, a Lucky Dip

A first flowering seedling paph. I now name the nursery it came from as Lucky Dip nursery as from what I've flower from them has been a Lucky Dip as nothing has flowered as per the label ( or what I ordered.)
The was supposed to be Paph Helice ( Psyche x bellatulum )
    I think its a Vanda M Pearman.

I think you are right about the name, Roy. It looks like Paph Vanda M Pearman. After it matures more, I bet the blooms will have a better shape. I wish I had one of these.

here is a shot from the web

Hi Bruce, its a real mystery this one. Its gathered quite a discussion elsewhere with some saying its a VMP and others not. I had a VMP years ago and looked at many on the net. The flower tends to be a VMP but the petals and staminode contradict this. The leaves suggest P. delenatii in the parentage as do some features in the flower but the other parent ?? It has to be something strong to counteract the delenatii.

I could not see the leaves in your photo and was going by the bloom. I noticed the shape and the staminode but assumed that was due to being a first bloom or perhaps a lack of some nutrient while the bud was developing. I think you have a pretty strong case for Paph VMP. But like everything else, different folks will have different opinions. AND for the record - many may know much better than I. haha...

Ok, the same flower after 5 days. Bruce, for what its worth, the leaves on this plant are extremely close to other VMP's I have.
