    Default Paph stonei in bloom

My Paph stonei is blooming with 2 flowers. I can't believe how long I had to wait for the blooms. It has been more than 8 months since the plant put out the flower sheath, together with 3 new fans(keikis). The keikis have since grown to the size of the mother plant.!!!

stonei is very variable. The variety I have, has white dorsal and parvisepalum without any markings - however, the reverse sides of both have dark vertical brown lines and brown patches. If seen against the light the lines show through and the the dorsal takes on a light pink cast. Also the lateral petals are slightly twisted at the tips.

It is a very nice species with quite a strange blooming habit. I like the colors and spotted lateral petals.

Some friends have indicated that this is the var latifolium or even another look-alike paph, Paph platyphyllum. I think I'll stick with Paph sronei.
