    How stunning! And I appreciate the information about the coco husks. My mother was telling me about growing up in Maine and coming across slipper orchids in the wild. I would like to get some for her to enjoy now, and I'll keep in mind this medium to help out.

    Just make sure that the coconut husk bits are well washed and given the thorough treatment at least three times. There is always some salt contained in the material regardless of the sellers claim of it being washed and dried before packaging. As a sort of bonus, I add some 1/4 inch bits of hardwood charcoal and then depending upon the Phrag. or Paph. I also add some limestone chips. Main thing is to have a well draining medium with minimal compacting over time.
