Default Paph. Hsinying Citron '#10' x fairrieanum 'Green Baby' HCC/AOS

This Maudiae alba just keeps amazing me - I've even decapitated one of the spikes that should be in bloom now, and it still has 2 more spikes and so much new growth, that 2 or 3 more spikes wouldn't surprise me. Not sure if the photo shows that the leaves are mottled a light and darker apple green and the blooming spike is a good 13" tall and ramrod straight, practically without any staking. The bloom balances on top of the spike so that it doesn't tip in any direction. The texture of the plant overall is deceptively soft - this is one of the strongest paphs I've had - and again, I'm taken with the faiirrieanum influence.

Great shots of very beautiful paph. Love the backlighting to bring out the venation and the hairs.

Beautiful. I have just been delivered my very own Maudiae 'green' today. It has some growing to do until it catches up with yours but I cannot wait.

Just to update with tragic news - some sort of unusual small black beetle decimated the bases of all the new growths on this paph - ate right through the very bottom of each leaf, so that they were healthy one day, and severed the next. I did the best I could, but I couldn't save it. I think I saved all the rest that were near it, though. This particular beetle went for the softer-leaved, lighter-colored paphs and left my vinicolored ones alone - watch out for it if you have green and white Maudiaes - it's sneaky and deadly and not talked about in any of the usual orchid pest articles. I'm just glad I got some good photos before it expired - and I'll be on the lookout for another one because this particular green fairrieanum was pretty special. Oh well, chalk it up to experience.

Thank you - maybe I'll blow it up to an 8x10 and have a memorial service for it. Sniffle, sniffle.....

Beautiful photo! It's a real shame about the plant though. I hope this doesn't happen to my paph! Although, mine's not light like this one. Very beautiful, though. I hope you can get another to replace it!
