    Default Paph NOID in bloom

This is the first time it is blooming in my place, but I've mixed up my tags while tidying up the orchid house. There are 2 fans (growths) in the pot and the plants are relatively small, each mottled leaf measuring 2 1/2 inches. The flower is comparatively large - 3 in across and 2 in high but the flower stem is short, about 2 in. There is a slight hint of pink over the base off-white colour.

I have an unattached tag lying around that reads ' Paph Rosy Dawn x leucochilum'. I wonder if it belongs to this plant.

I think your misplaced tag would fit this one ok, Yew.

Wow, it is beautiful, I would also agree with Roy with the name.

Lovely, Yew - I find whites to be so beautiful and yet so elusive to capture on camera. If I manage to maintain the "information" about the varying shades of white, I lose darker areas of the plant. In this case, I would love to see more of the leaves - they look so intriguing. I wonder if there's a way to get both qualities in one shot - it would probably be an impossibility for me at my stage, but I would bet you could do it - and well.

Thanks Roy and Amey for helping out with the name.

@ Maura : Thanks Maura, I agree whole-heartedly with you concerning the difficulty of capturing white in photos and still retain different shades of the the other colours. I wish I had the time to try to take more pictures incorporating the qualities you suggested but these few days have been really hectic - what with my second son's visit home together with his wife and my 2 delightful grand daughters, and packing and getting ready to go to Hong Kong to visit my eldest son on 19 Dec.

Sheer beauty and elegance, benefitting from its air of mystery. Little diamond!

Thanks everyone for visiting and for the comments. I like this one too but I wish the flower stem were longer.

I like the mottling! And the size...I am being 'forced' into liking minis lately. Is the pouch as hooked as it looks?

I know what you mean - my parents are flying in tomorrow, and I have orchids everywhere! I have several new orchids, some tagged, some not, that I have yet to post, my house is a mess, and refining essentially excellent photos is the LAST thing on my list. I will try to get more of my conservatory photos posted, though.
