Fabulous phrag - I've seen Eric Youngs in the local conservatory, and I'm considering trying a phrag to go with all my paphs. How difficult do you find this to cultivate? Which of your other orchids does it live near. Does it require very pure water? How do you water it - do you let it sit in 2" of water sometimes?

And with good reason! Are those all on the same spike, Ed? If so, I honestly don't think I've ever seen a Young with so many flowers on the same spike before. Excellant color!

I love this orchid! Phrags & paphs seem to be more difficult to cultivate in the tropics (at least from what I've read so far). Still trying to find the right conditions for my paphs. Would love to have this, one day. It's really pretty!

I don't find this very hard to cultivate ar all. it lives with all my other phrags namely Grande,Sedeni,Olaf gruss, wallissi, longifolium and a few kovachii hybrids-- all on continual irrigation system. My local water is soft and slightly acidic so the plants do very well on the tap water. I do not let the plants sit in water the system I use waters as a drip on the compost and flows thru' onto the greenhouse floor creating humidity. The temp this time of year varies from 14c at night to anywhere above 20C depending on the weather.
    Regards
