Some doubt as to whether this is a naturally occurring hybrid ( equal to the man-made hybid P.conco-bellatulum) or merely a naturally occurring species which is very similar. If my plant is typical I would plump for the latter. The habit is not quite the same as either parent , at least in the maybe dozen or so examples of each of the supposed parents which I have grown, but I can’t be dogmatic on the basis of such small numbers.
A large flower, for the type, measuring at least 8 cm in both directions. My plant is nothing much to shout about, but I have kept it alive for over a year, produced a flower, and at least one new growth has started – so my natural optimism kicks in – maybe this is the brachypetallum species which will be worth growing in UK !.

Nice one, Geoff! I love the lemony background, and if I had 12 or so examples of the parents in my growing history, I would be very dogmatic about it indeed.

An ITS PCR sequence will clear it out if it is a species or a hybrid. I do not know if there are any labs that are doing it, but it should be rather simple and cheap, not more than 30 or 40 dollars.
