    Default Paph Laevigatum X Primulinus

Went out of bloom a little over a month ago. It was a sequesntial bloomer last time it bloomed and was in bloom for about 3 or 4 months. This bloom it opened 2 flower off the bat and quit when they faded. The first pic with the two flowers close together is the fits blooming the second two are the most recent blooming.

Seems like it is blooming a lot for you! Wish mine would bloom that frequently.

Beautiful flowers Josh... seems like the recent blooms are also darker esp the petals.

So I guess seeing as RHS considers laevigatum and philippinense as synonymous, this would also be a Paph Honey. Course always a good idea to keep the parents info somewhere just in case the taxo-gods decide that laevigatum is a separate species...

    Cheers

Nice ! Thanks for showing the entire plant. I have a pure laevigatum(never bloomed). The leaves are more narrow and strappy. The lady I got it from said it had long, twisty petals...wish it would bloom,so I could see !

Cool cool I got this plant from a paph grower that came to speak at out OS meeting. Its not exactly what I was looking for but I like it none the less. Its growing really good. took it a while to bloom after I got it, but after I started to complain about it not blooming it did. Go figure. I'm glad to know that it can be called Paph honey. I think the guy that I bought it from made the cross himself. How old is the cross Paph Honey? He may have done the cross thinking it was a new one when in fact its been done before. heck I duno. This would explain why my paph looks so much like the Paph honey posted on here too. LOL

Paph Honey = Paph philippinense x Paph primulinum. Registered in 1978 by someone called Cryder.

So, the complaining works aye... I ask nicely and what do I get? Nulla, zippo, nuthin! Tomorrow, is complain day!

I guess the guy you got this from may have been thinkin that just in case they make laevigatum a separate species then it will definitely need a new name.

The whole Paph philippinense complex is a bit of a complicated one for me seeing as it is a really variable plant and there's been a few varieties named and I still think as opposed to cribb that petal length and stance should be a differentiating factor in figuring out species.. especially when they tend to impart these characteristics on their babies... anyhooo.. too much coffee and i'm rambling...

    Cheers

Tim - you've got to let the plant get a bud BEFORE you complain...otherwise it will just sulk..

I need to make a correction to my initial post. I'm such a dislexic. The smaller picture is the most recent bloom. The two larger pictures are the first time it bloomed. I assume primulinum and Primulinus are also the same species? Heck I need to check the tag when I get home I could have typed the wrong thing. LOL
