Default Paph Jolly Holiday (liemianum x philippinense)

I bought this while on vacation in the Cameron Highlands about a month ago. It had one half- open flower and a bud. I was smitten by the blooms after seeing Maura's pictures of her blooms some time ago and consider myself extremely lucky to have found one at a vendor's in the Cameron Highlands.

I'm also attaching another picture showing Paph Jolly Holiday next to my other liemianum cross i.e. liemianum x sicerianum.

Very nice. I love these hybrids that have glaucophyllum or liemianum as a parent.

Oh, Yew - these are exquisite! The blooms have some very elusive as well as some very intense coloring. The photos are just gorgeous, especially the center one of the P. Jolly Holiday. Do you remember what you did for lighting on that one? It's quite effective.

Really like the second photo -- the lighting created a nice effect.

Thanks a lot, Maura. I have you to thank for introducing me to this paph. As for the lighting - this was shot outdoor at 11.30 am with the sun at the correct angle for backlighting and a white reflector to lighten the shadows and black cloth as background. This is my preferred setup for most of my orchid pictures, weather permitting. I've been comtemplating an indoor setup with 2 flashguns/diffusers/reflectors/etc for more control and had actually saved up to buy a Nissin 622 Mk II to go with my Nikon SB 600. BUT finished all the savings +++ buying 6 paphs and 2 catts at the recent Agri Expo here.....the lighting setup will have to wait. 'The best laid plans of mice and men...' More on the recently acquired paphs in another post to follow.
