    Default Paph. Shin-Yi's Pride

Last year my name came up during one of Louis' monthly contests and he sent me a superbly grown Shin-Yi's Pride (Michael Koopowitz 'Reach Out' x rothschildianum 'Stellito'). It grew some more and decided to bloom this summer. Thanks again Louis!

Registered in 2001, Paph. Shin-Yi's Pride is a stately multifloral hybrid formed from the union of the long-petalled Michael Koopowitz with the incomparable rothschildianum. The cross has already received some high awards from the AOS, including the coveted FCC, with the finest clones producing large, long-petalled, boldly-striped flowers on strong vertical inflorescences. The petal stance is highly variable, with some clones having pendant petals and others with significant natural spread from the rothschildianum parent. Culture is easy under standard multifloral paph care: bright light, warm temperatures, and a cool winter rest.

Wow, I think it looks divine,
and your photography makes it look flawless.
It may not have flashy colors,
    or lots of frills,
but it has a classic elegance that is timeless and refined.
Good job on reblooming this beauty,
    and excellent photos, too, Jmoney.

You're very welcome, Jason. And awesome job you're done with it, too--this is its first blooming, isn't it? It hadn't bloomed yet when I sent it to you last year. Are you going to name the clone? (You know, you have to name it something!)

    thanks guys!

Tim, I don't necessarily think it's really award-quality--the bar is set pretty high for multifloral paphs. For this grex, I've seen pictures of some that had really unbelievable color and size (petals around 8" on this blooming)

Louis, I'll have to think about naming. Too tired this month to be creative...(I'll take suggestions though).

Jane, I grow on a windowsill, with a SSW exposure. Pretty strong light depending on distance from the window.
