Default Paph. Maudiae x Paph. Claire de Lune

Hi everyone... Here is my first ever Paph to flower. I posted that rather fetching photo when it was in bud among the Not In Flower section, 11. 25.2012. These present photos were taken (by dad) yesterday. (Available light)

I still feel Paphs are creepy, but these Maudiae jobs are mint! Now that I have my toe in the water, I shall try some more...

Many thanks for your comments, friends. Zainal and uncle Yew: Dad is touched by your appreciation; it really tickles him that nowadays he can receive gracious compliments, so immediately and from MALAYSIA (for god's sake!) and how effortlessliy people are brought together across the world.

Sorry! I mean MALAYA (not Malaysia)! For shame.

I agree with you Igor that the Maudie's can be pretty neat blooms. Certain Paphs are wonderful to me while others leave me cold. Congratulations on your first Paphiopedilium flower with more to come I'm sure. AL

You make me feel much better, Al: it's nice to find I am not alone in my hesitance with Paphs! I can now come out as a long-time paph-avoider Some are really cool, just as you say; but for me some of the big shiny lollipop hybrids are plug-ugly and somehow wrong! On a very short spike, these just might make sense.

SINCERE APOLOGIES to all big round paph fans! I love all my orchid colleagues and I cherish the huge diversity of us all.
