Default What's On Show At the Timmy Household...

    Hi Y'all,

I have the following two putting on a show at the moment..

    1. Paphiopedilum hirsutissimum

Out of three hirsutissimum at the show, this came third heheheh... apparently it was let down by the petals which were not wide enough nor horizontally held, but I just love the colour of it so it is a keeper!

    2. Paphiopedilum philippinense

Can you believe that this is my favourite species, and this is the first time I've actually seen it in real life! Geez, I have great taste hehehehe....

Wondering with this one... the dorsals are actually projecting forward so would like to know if I should also tilt the plant forward while it is opening?

    cheers
    tim

ps I bloomed the first but bought the second in bud!

Ah, Tim, I don't think that you are going to want to keep that 3rd place hirsutissimum. Not a first class guy like you!! so just pop it in the overnight express to LA LA Land and I'll take care of it. Always wanted one of those, never got around to getting one.

As for the phillipinense, see what happens with the next bud.

Sorry, totally off topic here, but when I saw the title to the post, the warped voice of Timmy from the overtly crude show South Park, calling out his own name, popped into my head and has not left for 2 days! If you don't know what I'm talking about, good, it's better off that way.

BTW, nice plants you've got in bloom there!

    nice paphs!

all paphs, if left alone, will tilt their dorsals forward enough to cover the pouch. it's to prevent rainwater from collecting in the pouch, which will cause rot. for a unifloral maudiae-type, it's easy enough to tilt the pot forward (back end up), although it works just as well to let the thing set and then stake it upright. for coryos, I'd just put the thing up on a pedestal so you can look up at it.
