    Default Paphiopedilum Liemianum

I have been a long-time lurker on this forum and have always enjoyed seeing the many plants people lovingly bring into bloom. I wanted to share a picture of one of my orchids in bloom as well - a Paphiopedilum Liemianum (I can barely read the little tag anymore, but I believe it says 'carddona'). I have had this lovely little flower for a few years now and it has always been a true sequential bloomer for me, but at the moment, it is managing two flowers at once which I have found to be rather charming.

That is totally adorable! I love the colors and the cute twisted petals with spots! Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks guys. I currently do not have any easy access to the beautiful plants that I am seeing posted here on a daily basis, but I am pretty happy about this little paph. It has been a reliable bloomer for me and I hope that I can continue to make that possible.

I own only one other paph - a Paph. callosum 'Hilo Fire' X Paph. Voodoo Kitty 'Bold Statement', but I have never seen it bloom. (I purchased it as an extremely damaged plant - reduced price of $3 - in an attempt to learn how to grow one of these lovely plants without fear of cost and success rate scaring me.) I was able to care for it and bring it back to life over about a year and a half and then about two years ago it was ready to bloom. The flower itself was just days from opening, but that was brought short by my house cat who had somehow managed to find his way on top of the grow light I use in the winter for a nap. He enjoyed the heat that the lamp was giving off and melted like a pad of butter right off the lamp, slipped off the lamp and falling onto a handful of my orchids below, badly damaging two of them. One of them was the Paph. Callosum I mentioned above - that dear plant I had already spent a year and a half bringing back to life! The other was a phal that had the entire crown busted off. Both plants I was able to save, but neither of them have bloomed since. I think that they are still very much recovering even though they look healthy. I am extremely excited to see the paph. callosum bloom again some day when it is ready. I certainly have been patient with them both. I have also learned that I no longer keep the lighting in a place where a house cat can rest upon it.

My cat is not allowed in the room where the orchids grow because of a similar experience.
I hope your plants recover and bloom!
