    Nelson, do you collect any of your own plants in the wild? Are they protected at all against that?

    LOL! Long gone are the days when hobbyists would do that! The plant here was obtained from the nursery of George Ong in Silang, Cavite.

    But you can go out and photograph them in the wild. How is it that they're not poached right out of existence (as many have been)?

    I can see how international trade can be policed, but I think it would be much harder to stop collection that stayed within the country.

    hobbyists here don't photograph orchids in the wild, in situ. The only person I am sure who did that lately was Jim Cootes, the Australian author who wrote The Orchids of the Philippines, 2001.

    For someone like me to hike to the mountains for around two days to take photos of orchids in the wild ? I've never even remotely considered doing that.
