Default Paph barbatum - Penang Hill form

It is a welcome sight to see some of my paphs flowering - they have not done well for some years because I grow all my orchids in one house, and set the conditions for whatever seems most important . Conditions primarily means temperatures and no doubt I was growing the paphs too warm ( to favour the catts and vandas in the same greenhouse). But for the last year or more, I have been growing cooler, and the paphs are at last showing signs of better growth and I am getting a few good flowers.
I visited Penang ( an island off the west coast of Malaya) some 25 or so years ago ; I forget exactly when. I knew that there were paphs on Penang Hill, and I spent an afternoon searching for them . Got very hot and sweaty, and bitten to death by insects of various kinds, but saw nary a one. I think it was the year afterwards that one of the orchid traders here in UK told me about the new CITES system which was coming into force , which ( at that time) we thought meant no more orchid imports of any kind, and he said he was bringing in some plants from Malaya, including this one. So I've had it a long time. It speaks volumes about how poor my culture has been in the last few years that it is just a single growth, and in fact it is so long since it last flowered that I don't remember it. Let me hope that now I am growing it right, it will prosper better.

Welcome back, Geoff. Lovely barbatum. The Penang Hill variety is bigger than most of the tribe in Peninsular Malaysia.

Very nice. That is the darkest dorsal I have ever seen on a barbatum, especially a wild / non-selected one..

Can we please have a picture of the whole plant?
