Gilda, if these plants are wild collected then there must a be acres upon acres covered with these plant. If you look closely there are still boxes at the back full of more plants. Like I said, they start selling them from December as soon as the buds starts to appear, and will continue selling them until the blooming season is over. And oh, they are very cheap, only less than US$2.00 per pot. Two plants/spike per pot.

There is a nursery somewhere in China who grow these things I'm sure.
Here is a pic of the same spot with Armeniacum in display. This pic was taken 2 weeks ago.

Tim, my plants are doing great, and my collection is getting bigger.

    My goodness!!!
So many of them!!! I only hope that they are not wild-collected. If not, I don't mind to have a few of those! Is there anyway I can get a few of those including the armeniacum. They are not cheap over here ($20-40 at least!) and not as big as I could tell from the pictures! Thanks for posting the pictures!
    Cheers. Hoa.

Now I see them and gosh I'm just blown away!!! I love how it shows the size of the plants... there's hope for my babies to flower yet

Looking at the plants themselves, I don't think they look wild collected... notice the leaves are in pretty good condition, other pictures of wild collected plants being sold in markets tend to have less perfect leaves... also I have read in one of the Aussie Orchid magazines about the nurseries in China... will see if I can dig that up...

great to hear the collection is doing well Tanya... and how can one help it not growing when you can get these beauties for these prices... I want at least a box!!!

Tim I have given up trying to figure out how to make them bloom. So, every year I just go there and look at them, not buying. Would you believe me if I tell you that these are sold as, how shall I put it, "coffee table flowers"? During the Chinese New Year, the vendor have a very artistic suggestion on how to best display them.
