Since we're guessing in the open, I'll put in my 0.02. to me it is clearly a sanderianum hybrid. It is a little reminiscent of MK itself, but doesn't quite look right. pouch isn't yellow enough. its dark color led me to think adductum at first but then again that orange staminode looked familiar...and there is one other coryo that is magnificently dark. out of the morass known as the praestans complex, a certain wilhelminiae has been recognized for hybridization purposes. a white dorsal would have cinched the deal (couldn't tell from the photos), but that is my guess.

Oh, hmm.. I missed that - was just going by the photos, and I agree it isn't yellow enough for straight MK. Jason has a good shot then judging on color,
    IMO.

I prefer the open guessing too...jmho.

I love the petal stance on this plant. The color are outstanding. I heard that this is one of the fastest growing primary hybrid. I think the petal length is more dependent on which plant is the parent. I had a chance to get a flask 2 years ago and I just shot myself in the foot for not purchasing the flask. You are so lucky to grow it and flower it. Absolute beauty. I think most people in my society would drool over it. It is also very compact compared to the sanderianum parent.

    Hi Diane,
Stone Addict??? You are trying to throw every one off??? Hehehhehe!!!

    Hi Sarah,
It's great that you participate in our little game of paph fun! Love that! You will be an expert in no time! Hehhhehee! It is not PEOY but yours is a good guess.

    Hi Annie,
Unfortunately, it is not MK x sanderianum.

    Hi Jason,
Is that a named cross, wilhelminiae x sanderianum? Unfortunately, it is not. However, it's always fun reading your rationals!

    And Hi Diane again,
Are you trying to throw people off again? Very funny you!!!
BTW, hydrids with stonei blood normally don't have that dark color.

Guessing in public has good points but if the paph heads nail it so fast then many people would not have the chance to take part. So if you are an earlier riser and confident enough, email the originator first so everyone else could catch up... Just my 2 cents!
    Great participation, everyone!
Are we a fun bunch? Cheers. Hoa.

wilhelminiae x sandy was registered in 2004 as Sungai Melinau. I had one that really hated s/h and went belly-up. I have another guess...but I will PM!

    Hi Jason,
Thanks for the name of that cross. Sungai Melinau, it sounds really nice. Maybe I should have it one day.

    Hi Steve (and Diane),
It's great to see you joining us!!! Unfortunately, it's not Sander's Pride. Or Sander's Pride x kolo, you guys are putting out pretty wild guesses. Teasing us newbies or something? I would think a Sander's Pride x kolo cross would not have petals that long and the color would be lighter? BTW, is it another named cross?

    Cheers. Hoa.
