Default paph charlesworthii x Hampshire Raven

I love charlesworthii for the shape of the dorsal, and it has done a good job of passing on it's shape to this cross, while picking up the color of the Raven. Slight veining in the pouch, it's hard to see as it is so dark and my photo so poor. Lots of hairs on the petals...uhm, wait, sepals??? Duhhh.. kind of out of it on cold medicine today - anyway, it has nice hairs!!!

A lovely vini, Diane! Sorry you're soaking your head in cold meds...not much fun. Two spikes? How many growths on the plant? You're right - sepals are top an bottom on Paphs; the wings are petals.

Finding Nemo is on! I'll slip in some late watering with that going in the background!

Hey Diane! That is a really pretty paph! It is so glossy and I love the dark color. Good growing!

    Gorgeous, Diane!

Hope your cold is better. A cup of hot apple-cinnamon TheraFlu with a shot of vodka in it right before bed makes me sleep like a kitten.

    Get well soon!

So very beautiful. I live vicariously when I see these beautiful orchids. I can only imagine the thrill of seeing it in your home. Do you think that I could grow a Paph in my air conditioned home? I have been afraid to try.
I have phals, oncidiums, dendrobiums, a miltassia and a miltonidium. All seem to be doing well. I had a beautiful mini cattleya but killed it by overwatering and not enough light. At least I got to enjoy one bloom cycle. It will soon be cool enough at night to carry my phals out at dusk and bring them back inside in the morning. That's the only way I can give them the drop in temperature that they need so that they will spike again. Growing orchids in the desert is a challenge. But....life would be dull without new challenges.

I am sure you could. I grow my paphs indoors in my air conditioned house. And I do the same "put the phals out at night" routine as you. I have a duplicate of one of mine paphs that I would be glad to send you so you could try. PM me if you are interested.

You might want to consider a pebble tray under the Paph. It would certainly appreciate the added humidity. Otherwise, I'm with Diane - they enjoy conditions similar to Phals.
