    McJ:

Every time I see this picture--right after I finish admiring the henryanum--I start wondering what that silver object is on your table? I'm sure it's not really a large tuna can with a handle, so I would like to know....

Knowing McTippler as we all do - I would guess it is a bottle caddy with a cork stopper with silver fitting. Good for wine or scotch....

Diane's got it! Although she left out the sterling part, which is hard to tell under all that tarnish! It was a gift from the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club for judging their race week some years back. I've retired as a sailing judge, so no more swanky gifts or over-sized polo shirts. Alas!

Julie, is it potted in sphag? Mine was in fine bark. I just unpotted it over the weekend and found only 3 live roots. I like sphag more than bark, is it a good idea to put mine in sphag?

    Thanks
    Qing

Tami, I think you're speaking of the bunny's butt. That's my cute little bunny rabbit lamp. He's very happily chomping on a carrot. The second shot is a bit blurry, because I turned off the flash to show you how nicely he glows!

Qing, the most important thing about whatever potting mixture you choose, is that you know how to read it. That is, you know when your plant wants to be watered. I have a harder time judging bark mixes, which is why I prefer sphagnum. It does dry out more quickly and needs replacing more frequently than bark, but I'm less likely to over or under water with it.

Ahhh! It is a bunny! Guess I looked at it wrong. Light to see the scotch by. He's cute!
