Default two Paphs... and a half...

it feels like a buying spree... but really I was just managing my Wish List database and had to get a couple of Paphs so I can remove them from the wish list...

    1. Paph hennisianum

This plant is particularly important because it is one of the must haves being a Philippine species. Only five more filipino Paphiopedilum species to get!!

    2. Paph sukhakulii

I have resisted trying to get this species for a long time... they are fairly common in cultivation here so it wasn't like it would be hard to get. However, when I saw this in bloom with the cute "puppy ear" petals, I had to have it!

I also picked up a Paph fowliei which is not in bloom but is again another filipino species that 'improves' the collection!

    cheers
    Party Of Paphs!

    Princely acquisitions, Tim!

I'm so jealous you can step out the door and buy these. I'd be broke if there were a decent nursery around here!

LOL, McJ... the nursery is about 1 hours drive north of Sydney and that is mostly freeway conditions... I just had plenty of time to shop this week having a week off work!

I can't think of any of the New England nurseries I'd get excited about driving to. Lots of specialty stuff, high prices and all are hours away.

I visit my folks in Florida, and there's a place 30 mins away that would keep me in specimen-sized plants, of all genera and species, for the rest of my life!

Just as well I'm here, LOL!

What's the deal with the dragonfly petals on the hennisianum Tim? Looks like there are four instead of two!

oh yeah, didn't even realise that... it's the horizontal markings and the deep colour in the middle there I suppose.. making it look like it's cut in halves...

the reflexed petal is actually a natural 'characteristic' of the species, but the wonky staminode is not

nice paphs! that's really good "form" for hennisianum too, most have more reflexed petals.
