This is Phragmipedium Mountain Maid, photographed at the Montreal Botanical Garden last October. I love the red hybrids out there but this yellow one is also very attractive (and would make a great companion for the red ones!)

Very striking against the dark background of the rock and large dark green leaves.

I love the yellows that are produced from besseae var. flavum crosses! Always unexpected and always pretty!

I am not a big fan of besseae and it's crosses, but I've seen a couple done with flavum that were a beautiful peach color. I think the one in the photo is quite nice, a bit different coloration than the M. Maid I have seen before.

A beauty! So bright and cheerful. Yellow blooms always make me smile. Thanks for sharing.
