    Default white complex season!

outrageously warm fall/winter here in the northeast (not complaining except that it is partially to blame for screwing up the striped bass and blackfish bite), but the prospects of a white xmas aren't looking too good. at least the white complexes are in bloom. my general dis-affinity towards complex paphs in general notwithstanding (not hatred, mind you), for some reason I do love the white ones and have been accumulating them in the past couple years when the price has been right. I believe some of these were grown by Val Tonkin before she closed her nursery, and made their way to my apartment via various middlemen. hope she's doing ok.

as with most of these complexes, they open up cream-colored with significant yellow overlays, but after a few weeks to a month, the yellow fades and you are left with mostly white flowers.

Paph. Salty 'Val' HCC/AOS - my first white complex and a total weed. very white, but a bit cupped.

Paph. Jack Tonkin 'Robin' AM/AOS - larger flower but with a more 'open' form

Paph. Susan Tucker 'Lottie' HCC/AOS, S/CSA - very white as well, one of many awarded Susan Tuckers.

Paph. Snowbird 'Robin' AM/AOS - unlike the others, this one does not feature F.C. Puddle as a parent. the grex is the aforementioned Jack Tonkin crossed to the green/yellow Diversion. larger flower with better form, with a yellow overlay.

A nice collection of complex whites, Jason! They're not my thing, but I do admire them from afar!

There IS something very special about these gleaming white paphs! Very elegant. And it's really great they are blooming at the same time. Do you group them together for the effect?
