    The flowers will vary from bud to bud depending on the conditions that the bud develops under. Colour temperatures will result in deeper red flowers. The amount of water the plant recives while the bud is developing will also affect the quality of the flower. Also, the flowers do get progressively smaller as you go from the first bud to the last bud.

    To give you an idea of how the buds can very from one to the next. Here are some photos of my P. besseae 'BC5'.

    This is the first bud, bloomed while I was away and received considerably less water.


    This is the second bud, bloomed under much heavier watering conditions and cooler temperatures.

    Nice sequence, Lien! I knew that, but had never seen such a dramatic difference between two blooms on the same plant.

    The second looks like it's on steroids!
