Thanks everyone! Great pics, Alberto! What show is that from?

I am guessing that flatter petals are more preferred over twisty or "winged" petals (unless they are strangely twisted). This one was fully opened when photographed, and the petals have not turned any noticeable degree. The petal span on this one is 9.6cm, the leaf span about 16cm wide, and the inflorescence being about 25cm long...

I will be making a thread with a comparison of Paph. appletonianum and Paph. wolterianum, showing differences between the two species.

Many of the twisty petaled Paphs twist after opening (see the three successive photos in this post: http://www.rv-orchidworks.com/orchid...squirolei.html)

That is, if they're going to twist.

Pat, your comparison would be great info! Thanks! Also, I'd love to see this guy in better light, if you get a chance. He looks to have nice, dark coloration, but it's hard to tell.

That is beautiful. I love the green and blush combined.

That first photo does remind me a little of the green goblin's flying thingy in the first Spiderman movie -- doesn't it just look like he could hop right on?

Way to go, Pat. A first seedling bloom - how long did that take?
    Nice pics, Alberto.
