Default Paph Winston Churchill "Indomitable" FCC

Got this guy as a small single growth division from a well known growers stud plant. Took 2 years to bloom. The photos just don't capture the color well. He's a handsome maroon with mahogany overlay, then white dorsal with maroon spots. Green around the edges. Much more red/purple than the pictures show. The paph that got me started many years ago....

Fantastic bloom! I can understand how a flower like this would get you hooked! Great colours, nice shape and it has that classic appearance of a grand old gentleman!

Where did that name come from? It honestly does remind me of winston churchill, or perhaps a bulldog's face.

This is a 'bulldog' paph. There are stories about how that name came about, and Winston Churchill is one of the most highly recognized bulldog paphs. It's suggested that the bulldog name came about from old WC and his dog...

Beautiful flower Diane. I always ask myself if somebody precisely knows all parents of this complex hybrid

I doubt they are all known, but since i got this as a division from a reputable paph grower, and it was an FCC plant, I think it's pretty certain that it is what it was reputed to be. A large flower, wonder depth of color and clarity. Still going strong. Long lived flowers are one of the attractions of paphs...
