    Default late blooming Paph. charlesworthii

A first bloomer I bought ___last year. It's pretty but the pouch is off-center. I think this was due to the fact that half of the dorsal developed "outside the bud" while the half was tucked in the synsepal as usual. Hoping for a better bloom next year. Still, I'm happy!

P.s. you may notice that some of the older leaves have some yellowish crusty parts. Do u guys have any idea what might have caused this? Thanks!

    Nice Bloom!

I am interested in what folks say about the crusty spots as well.

nice charles... the dorsal on these plants are getting so big!

I've had the brown spots - 'cell collapse' - happen on plants where I've left water on the leaves overnight... I'm not sure if it is a result the cold or if it's the 'salts' (eg fertiliser) in the water sitting on the leaves too long though.

Hmmm the color of the bloom seems quite light - with the yellow tinge on the leaves I wonder if it's getting the right light and enough nitrogen.

    Beautiful IMHO.
Can you provide a bit of culture information?

Thanks guys for such nice comments. As for culture information. It's potted in small back, charcoal, hydroton mix. Holes on side of pot is very important in my opinion. Top dressing of sphagnum moss. I fertilize everytime I water at 1/4 strength. That might have been too much, hence the yellowing leaves. It's grown 6-8 inches below 4 40-watt fluoro lamps. Intermediate temps all year. Hope this helps!

I'm certainly no expert, but I would try changing the light and fertilizing a little. I grow mine about 10 inches from the light, and I fertilize at about half strength every other watering, allowing a good flushing on the non fert week. The media sounds fine, very similar to what I use. I love charlesworthii, I have 4 different ones. You may have one with alba genes, which makes it lighter in color. Do what makes you and the plant happy!

I think it might have been overfed. I fertilized all my plants every watering for the past 3 months at least. I noticed the root growth is a bit less in most plants. Would watering more with plain water work or would I need to repot all my plants? What do you guys think?
