Default Where do I go from here!?

Ok so......I just got my phalaenopsis orchid for my bday a week ago.....I got better-grow potting mix for phalaenopsis orchids....When I first got my plant I had about 9 blooms or so....and a few have fallen off....there are still 4 really nice blooms still going!.....Just was wondering.....What are my next steps.....I keep it In a south facing window.....about a foot or so away.....Soil is still nice and fairly most...so I dont think I need to water it quit yet.......Was also wondering.......is it ok....to just give the plant a little mist once a day?? Any help is great!

    Thanks,
    Pinklady!

No mist for phals. They have a tendency to get stem rot if water collects in the axils of the leaves. Put it on a tray of moist pebbles or stone to keep the humidity up. Fertilize with a weak solution of fertilizer every week and you're good to go. Remember to flush with plain water once a month to get the fertilizer salts out of the pot.

Is it actually planted in soil? Or is it bark or sphagnum moss?

You probably ought to check and make sure there is a hole in the bottom of the pot. Phals don't like to be soggy.

If there's a hole and the potting media is still wet, all you need to do (at least for a couple of days) is enjoy the flowers.

Okay - I'm going to add confusion... (as usual) I do mist my phals regularly. But it's very fine mist, and I do it lightly. It helps to keep humidity up, and I focus on any exposed roots.

Do you have a re-sale store near you? You might find a really cute looking basket there for your 'chid. That would allow plenty of drainage.
