Default My new pal, the Phal.

Alrighty, here's my first real post!

I've been looking all around, and I have found (or rather been told) that Phal. Orchids are some of the best for beginners. Now, does anyone have any sort of idea exactly what kind, or does it matter? I live in an arid region...mountains of colorado.

I'd show ya what my likes and dislikes are but for some odd reason, I'm not able to get a pic to show up. xD

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors....but they all exist very nicely in the same box. ...Hmmm? .

Lack of humidity is going to be your biggest problem. You may need to run a humidifier or a mister in the room you put the phal into. East- morning light is good for Phals. They don't like to be wet, but they don't want to be totally dry either. Hey! Welcome to Orchidtalk!

I figured as much on that lack of moisture deal. -chuckles- I've been to humid places like Florida and wondered how people could do it. It's like breathing in water! Anyhow, the humidifier sounds like a great idea and I was toying with the idea of getting an evaperation pan or something (if that is what they are called). One of those slick little trays with grating over the top, lets water evaporate up towards the plant, yadda yadda. Like I said, I am so the flower newbie. -wink-

Thanks for all the advice!
