Default Just when I was on the brink of despair...

Hi all help me out with this please,

I posted another thread stating my anger at getting ANOTHER terminal spike. Well my kitten knocked over my phal with the first terminal spike, so, since I didn't give up hope, I picked it up and took it to the kitchen to repot it in its bark.

I noticed this growing out of the terminal spike. It looks like a leaf. I thought keiki's would grow from the base. Is this maybe a keiki coming through, or is it trying to grow from here now? Keeping my fingers crossed!!! The flowers were beautiful, I will post a pic of them too. I would love to be able to save this little one!!

Yes that is a keikei...in time roots will begin growing. When you have at least 3 or 4 roots that are a few inches long you will be able to put it in it's own pot.

Awwwww my first baby!! So excited! How long do you reckon from now to removing it and putting it in its own pot? And from there, to blooming?

Thanks so much, am very excited now! Going to move to my bedroom window. Better sun, and less chance of kitten attacking it again!

It will take awhile, Danny. If the keiki starts to produce its own spike before the roots are long enough to remove it from the mother plant, cut the spike. Letting it flower will only prolong the time it will take to mature.

    Cheers,
    BD
