Hey Betty I've also had a long history of bad luck with Phals. (And most orchids come to think of it) But that's changing. I've experimented with pots and mixes. These dual pots have given me great results for Phals. I also put a Phal in a non-tradional gritty cacti/bonsai type mix and that one is also doing well. Hope you find that the mounts work for you!

I will. I am going to be afraid of breaking roots if I try to cut the pot away!! At least I don't have to decide what to do YET!

    Hi, Birdie!
By 'oxygen core pots' are you talking about 'air cone pots'? If you are, I recently started moving almost everything into them and they are all doing great. I've got lots of phals with basal keikis, lots, most with multiple growths and they all at one time or another were in net pots because they were rescues and didn't have any roots. If you want to repot you can use a small pair of very sharp scissors to cut thru the netting and free up the roots. The plastic is actually pretty soft. Good luck and let us know! Your little phal looks really healthy by the way! Remo

Hi Mary if you dont want to separate also ok wait until the plant relatively big in size and then you can cut it, your plant so far very healthy.

Thanks! It has gotten even bigger since I've been putting it outside at night. It spent most of last week outside 24/7 since it did nothing but rain here & it was very humid. I think it liked that weather a lot! Personally, I was NOT happy with all that rain!!

The pots I have are ---- vendor information removed - see faqs on posting ---- & they call them oxygen core pots. They are just a net pot inside of another pot with slits & air holes in it. Mine are doing great in these pots! And yes, the plastic does seem pretty soft. I suppose I should repot soon since I'm trying to get the plant to set a bloom spike, although, it did bloom in April. I've got to buy more net pots!! Thanks! ~Mary

I would do as stated in an earlier post-repot pot in pot! I like using terracotta pots because they breathe and the roots love them, but they are expensive. Just get a larger pot and shove the old pot with the plant in it, into the new pot. Fill with bark/medium of choice. It works a breeze, and i have had success with pots like yours and this method. It reduces stress on the plant and they can keep growing, unlike the three phals i repotted that were like yours is with the roots, where i accidentally skewered the roots (trying to be as careful as possible), and that was a year ago, and they are only just starting to grow new roots and a new leaf.

Your Phal is very beautiful and healthy, i know what you feel rigth now. Im also facing the same problem.
I bought phal a couple of weeks ago and i thought that the plant has just two flower spike which is infact two plants close to each other wiith each flower spike. adding to the difficulty the larger one is producing another 2 basal keikis. they were just planted to a coconut husk.
Same as what you facing rigth now, i dont know how to or should i separate each plant.
