Great articles Ron
Yes Ron thank you!! I have yet to buy a light meter but I my back room has windows on 3 sides (south, east and west) but there are trees overhead that do shade the room somewhat. I wonder if I need to supplement with any additional light.

Thank you Ron.
This is from a while back, but Terry brought this up in another thread. Great find. Thanks Ron-NY for posting these articles. It gave me some great insight!
I think I recently posted a photo of my Phalaenopsis NOID (the one I had to grow in my pantry, with a grow light for year and a half, so my cats wouldn't eat it). It recently came into spike and here is the latest (for those of you who missed the first photo, I'm including that as well). Like my Sobralia callosa, I was ASTONISHED that it bloomed on its own, without me being an expert or even above average grower! It does have my mini greenhouse next to my kitchen window, a BIG step up from the pantry (BTW, I bought it when it was in bloom, February or March 2012. It obviously skipped a year, being in the pantry . Sorry for the crappy pics I find the size limitations difficult/FRUSTRATING to work with- just forget the pics.
I just purchased 10 phals ---with great roots and in spike and was looking for guidance. Now I just need to know the best way to add calcium and magnesium to my reverse osmosis water.
Great articles. I live near a large scale commercial Phal. hybrid operation, and enjoy visiting the different growing areas. I only grow species (some are cooler growing), and they usually have a few around for purchase.
