Nice job, Are you growing it out side, or did you just move it there to take the photo?
    Thanks, Adam

Spotting on that one's pretty unusual. Good job growing it!

I do grow this orchid outside, I am currently based in Singapore but this photo was taken during my visit to Manila- where I have my garden.

hi jade, i know that this is a very old post but just in case you're still around just a few question.

does the temp in manila unusually cold when your stu blooms? I thought this specie won't bloom in manila because of the not too cold enough but you even mentioned it should bloom 2x a year. i'm in general trias, cavite w/c is colder I think and until now my stuartiana don't have a spike. any suggestions? thx

Stuartiana I think likes a drop in temperature at night. I believe this is basically endemic to Mindanao altho they exist in some parts of Luzon as well.

I just came from Davao del Norte in Mindanao this week and saw a stuartiana with hundreds of blooms. The weather was warm and dry in the daytime but it would rain in the evenings occasionally but not a heavy rain. Although the air around was fresh because there are so many trees around the area.

Thanks ManilaByNight. My temp at night drops to 21C to 24C with 21C in the very early morning. The day temp is warm and could reach 30C if I place the thermo in direct sunlight but it's around 28C if in shade.

My home province is Bohol in the Visayas and stuartiana is also in abundance there specially in the uplands. They grow like weeds in the trees since this specie can produce keiki from the roots. The weather there is no colder than mine here in Cavite but I think the difference is there are lots of trees in Bohol.

Wow what a sight to see. Did you took pictures?
